Nice one Herman

Historical film footage from the 50sRachel Fry and Herman Andersen

On 19 June at the NZ Consulate in Copenhagen, an informal reception was held by Rachel Fry, NZ's Embassador from The Hague,

for Herman Andersen and any New Zealanders in the area who wanted to drop in for a wine and a chat with the ambassador.

Herman was there to donate film footage of his year travelling throughout NZ with the Danish gymnastic team in 1950's to the NZ government's film archive. Herman took some amazing footage while in NZ, including the Queens visit, the Tangiwai train disaster, as well as clips of Yvette Williams, our first female Olympic gold medalist, to mention a few.

Herman and his wife are dropping in on us at the Hangi on Saturday for a beer and a chat and to see the Hangi put down. We'll have a copy of his footage and Herman will (no doubt) be keen to tell a few stories.
